Geological prospecting: towards new achievements
Uzbekistan ranks 10th in terms of reserves and 5th in terms of uranium production in the world.
SOE Navoiyuran is the only producer of natural uranium in Uzbekistan and is among the largest uranium producers in the world. At the same time, the raw materials produced in Uzbekistan are not used and are fully exported abroad to such large processing companies as Orano (France), Converdyn (USA), Comeca (Canada), CNEIC (China) and others.
To date, the main confirmed, estimated and forecasted uranium reserves are concentrated in the Central Kyzylkum and Ziyavutdin-Zirabulak regions. The existing uranium mineral resource base includes reserves that can ensure stable production by in-situ leaching for decades.
Stable growth of uranium prices allows the Company to start developing unconventional deposits, which are located in the oldest bedrock formations and are rich in rare earth elements in addition to uranium.
In 2020-2030, it is planned to modernize production facilities, technical and technological re-equipment of equipment and transport, and expand existing uranium complex production facilities. In addition, the plans include expansion of the mining complex at the existing deposits. To address these plans, from 2021 to 2030, investment projects will be involved in the construction of mining and processing complexes with infrastructure at new uranium deposits and promising "sandstone" type areas.
The main prospective uranium mining sites of SOE Navoiyuran: Northern Kukhnur, Aktau, South-Eastern Zhingeldi, Shimoliy Bukinoy, Ingichki, Agron, Nurkon, Ziyokon, Tuvaktau, etc. The Scientific and Production Center "Geology of Uranium and Rare Metals", which has three expeditions in its structure, is engaged in strengthening the uranium mineral resource base of the Republic. The Bukantau, Nurata and Zirabulak geological exploration expeditions carry out geological exploration work in the Bukantau, Bukinai and Ziyavutdin-Zirabulak uranium ore province, respectively.
