Meeting with Representatives of Brazil’s Uranium Industry
Representatives of the “Navoiyuran” State Enterprise met with delegates from Brazil’s National Geological Service, Mr. Hugo Polo and Mr. Raul Meloni, during the IAEA Technical Meeting Week on “Prospects for the Development of Sandstone Uranium Deposits and the Use of Innovations in Geological Exploration,” held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from 13 to 17 October 2025.
During the meeting, the Brazilian side presented detailed information on the country’s uranium deposits, geological data, natural resources, and the legislative and regulatory framework governing uranium mining activities.
It was noted that Brazil plans to continue geological exploration and confirm uranium resources—estimated at over 150,000 tons—in three major sandstone deposits according to international standards, with the aim of developing them on an industrial scale. To implement this initiative, the Government of Brazil has strengthened its legal framework and designated the Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil (INB) as the sole national operator responsible for uranium development projects.
The parties also discussed potential cooperation opportunities within Navoiyuran’s expanding international activities. The Brazilian representatives highly valued the company’s technical expertise and long-standing experience in project design, geological exploration, mine preparation, and ISR-based uranium extraction, emphasizing that Navoiyuran SE could serve as a strong partner in Brazil’s emerging national uranium initiatives. As is well known, Navoiyuran SE is recognized globally as one of the leading enterprises in in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium mining.
The Brazilian National Geological Service shared an electronic database of geological information on the country’s uranium deposits and prospective areas. Both sides agreed to continue bilateral dialogue at the level of relevant departments and technical specialists.
The representatives of “Navoiyuran” State Enterprise reaffirmed the company’s readiness to undertake joint projects with Brazilian partners aimed at advancing uranium exploration and mining in Brazil.
