“Navoiyuran” specialists discussed prospects of uranium deposits development in Jordan
From September 17 to 21, specialists of Navoiyuran State Enterprise visited Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as part of a working mission dedicated to studying prospects for joint uranium exploration and development.
During the visit, a series of meetings were held between representatives of Navoiyuran, the Ministry of Mining Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jordan’s National Arab Mining Company (NAMC), Jordan Uranium Mining Company (JUMCO), and the leadership of Navoiyuran State Enterprise. The discussions focused on deepening cooperation in the field of natural uranium, as well as implementing joint projects in mining and mineral resources.
As part of the talks, a joint working group was established, comprising specialists from Navoiyuran, the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, Uzbek Geology Overseas, and JUMCO. The group agreed to assess uranium mining potential in southern Jordan, including areas such as Wadi Al-Baxiya, Sahb Al-Abyad, Bayer, Mafraq, Qasr Al-Katraneh (Katrana), Al-Risha, Eshidiya, and Al-Harrana.
In addition, under the leadership of Navoiyuran’s Managing Director for Geology and Exploration, experts visited JUMCO’s headquarters, a uranium processing plant, and uranium deposits located in central Jordan. The delegation reviewed geological layers using specialized equipment and studied the company’s technical, technological, and financial reports, as well as materials related to prospective sites.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, Navoiyuran and JUMCO reached an agreement to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near term and to intensify geological exploration activities.
